Additionally, it is important to not only maintain your weight, but to grow and develop both physically and mentally. Here's a lesser known fact: In order for your body to be healthy enough to support the development of strong muscles and bones plus a healthy mental state, you need a well-sized macronutrient intake from all three food groups. In nutrition, macronutrients are made up of protein, carbohydrates and fats. The science behind this may be a little off-putting for some of you, but we're going to simplify it! With that in mind, let's dive in!What the heck is a macronutrient anyway?Macro... as in big. Nutrient as in substances that the body needs to survive. If you're still confused, don't worry; we're about to break it down for you! Proteins: These macronutrients build and repair bodily tissues like muscles and bones. Proteins also make up other proteins. Carbohydrates: These macronutrients give your body energy to do all those things we told you it does! Some of those things include thinking, moving and breathing. Fats: All that other junk the body may use to keep you alive, like hormones. So... what do we need all these macronutrients for? Well, they're needed for cell regeneration and repair and to maintain a healthy body weight. Without these macronutrients, we wouldn't be able to grow and develop physically or mentally. How can we get all of these nutrients?Aside from their role in the human body, optimizing your nutrient intake is key if you want to get big and strong. Luckily, you have some options when it comes to macronutrient consumption!ProteinThe body needs amino acids in order to grow healthy muscles. If you aren't consuming enough of these macronutrients, that can cause a shrinking of muscle tissue. The best sources of proteins come from animal sources such as beef and chicken or from soy products such as tofu and soy milk. While iron is an essential mineral the body needs to function, here's an interesting fact: Iron isn't actually essential for muscle building! That's because meat contains plenty of iron and other nutrients like B12 and zinc which help your body develop and grow. cfa1e77820
